The Story Behind the Story

Susan H Hines is an author, speaker, and storyteller who believes some of life’s most meaningful lessons arrive in ways we never planned.

Her work is rooted in lived experience—the unexpected turns, difficult decisions, relationships, reinvention, laughter, and moments of clarity that shape who we become.

Life rarely follows
the plan.
Neither did I.

I’ve learned that some of our most meaningful chapters begin when the life we planned takes an unexpected turn. My own journey through relationships, career, reinvention, loss, laughter, and starting again has shaped both the way I write and the conversations I bring to the stage.

I don’t write from the sidelines. I write from lived experience—with honesty, humor, and the belief that we always have the power to challenge the story, reclaim ourselves, and choose what comes next.

THE WORK CONTINUES

Susan's work now spans books for adults and young readers, speaking engagements, school and youth programs, and conversations centered on reinvention, courage, self-discovery, and choosing what comes next.

Through her books, the C.R.A.Z.Y. Method, and her work with audiences of all ages, she creates space for honest conversations about growth—not as a destination, but as something we continue doing throughout our lives.

We’re never too old—or too young—to discover who we’re becoming.
